YOU'VE SENT A LOT OF APPLICATIONS. DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'VE BEEN APPLYING?

Most job searches live in a browser history, a pile of saved posts and an inbox full of "Thanks for applying." Then a recruiter calls, and you're trying to remember which company this is and what the posting asked for.

If that sounds familiar, you've probably also:

  1. Lost a recruiter's attention because the follow-up you meant to send never went out
  2. Sent 30 more applications without knowing why the last 30 went quiet
  3. Walked into an interview without the job requirements in front of you
  4. Taken the first offer number because you had nothing to compare it to

A job search works like a sales pipeline. Leads come in, some turn into conversations, a few turn into offers. When you can't see your pipeline, you can't tell which stage needs work.

Run your job search like a pipeline

The Job Application Tracker is a free spreadsheet with a dashboard on top and one row per application underneath. You enter each job once. The sheet calculates your follow-up dates, counts your interviews and offers, and shows you the numbers behind your search.

Stage 01 Applications
actual vs goal rate Low here? Fix your resume or targeting.
Stage 02 Interviews
actual vs goal rate Low here? Put your prep into interviewing.
Stage 03 Offers

You set a goal conversion rate for each step, and the sheet shows your actual rate next to it. Say you've sent 20 applications and landed 1 interview. The dashboard makes that gap obvious, so you fix your resume or your targeting before sending 20 more. If interviews are coming but offers aren't, you know to put your prep time into interviewing instead.

Hi, I'm Jeneba Wint. I'm a cognitive psychologist by training, a TEDx speaker, a columnist for Essence and Blavity, and the author of Interview Like an Olympian.

Olympians log every training session so they know what to work on next. Your job search deserves the same.

I built this tracker so anyone in a job search has an easy, low-tech, non-depressing way to track their progress. You can't master what you can't measure. This gives you agency and power back in your job search.

Questions before you download

Is it really free?

Yes. Enter your name and email, and the tracker lands in your inbox.

Do I need Excel?

No. The tracker opens in Google Sheets or Excel.

I'm not a spreadsheet person. Will I be able to use it?

Yes. You type in the job details. The formulas, dates and chart are already built. Cells that run calculations warn you before you change them, so you don't overwrite a formula by accident.

How many applications can I track?

50 per sheet. Save a blank copy before you start, and open a fresh one for each new search or each year.

Can I change the dropdown options?

Yes. Go to the Drop Down Lists tab and edit your application stages, follow-up intervals and job sources.

Why does it track offer amounts?

So you can see how much negotiating moved your number and how long offers take to arrive. That's useful the next time you're deciding whether to counter.

What if I get stuck?
